Who We Are

Welcome to Ka:ll Community Dinner Church, a vibrant and inclusive community of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) and allies. Our mission is to build a world that more closely resembles the kin-dom of God through our shared love of Asian cuisine, our efforts to heal from the harm caused by the model minority myth, and our commitment to reclaiming our Christian faith. Rooted in the United Methodist tradition, our micro-church thrives on the rich diversity of our members' religious and cultural experiences.

Our name, KA:LL, is inspired by the Tagalog prefix "ka," which represents the cosmic union and interconnectedness we share with all people and things. In Baybayin, the ancient Filipino writing system, the letter "Ka" is symbolized by two wavy lines connected by a line, while a single wavy line "ha" represents breath or spirit. Thus, the letter "Ka" in Baybayin reminds us that our relationships with one another are characterized by the connection of our breaths and spirits.

Drawing upon the wisdom of Filipino culture and standing in solidarity with our diverse AAPI heritage, our community seeks to celebrate our unique identities while recognizing our shared humanity as beings created in the image and likeness of God. Through our communal meals, we come together to share in the powerful, creative energy of our collective breath and to uncover the truth that lies within us all. We welcome all who share in our vision to join us in building a more just and compassionate world.
